Tokyo Mew Mew was written by Reiko Yoshida and drawn by Mia Ikumi. Series ran for seven volumes from 2000 until 2003. It returned in 2020 with two new Manga. It soon became the best-selling manga in North America when it got licensed by Tokyopop.

The upcoming anime is to be released yet and it’s expected to come in 2022. But still, Tokyo Mew Mew was an incredibly popular anime between 2002 and 2003.

However, actually watching this anime was a bit undertaking as it was one of many anime localized by 4Kids. While being widely popular, it is actually a really altered version of the original.

4Kids only dubbed the first half of the anime which resulted in the Mew Mew Power having only 26, instead of the original 52 episodes.

This wasn’t the only bizarre thing, as Mew Mew Power was only released on the home media in the original shape in South Africa.

The home media for Mew Mew Power is now completely out of print which means you would have to get a DVD from South Africa in order to obtain it.

Hopefully, the new version won’t come through this mess and it will be released in its full form in English and others.
