JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is probably the anime you noticed popping up from time to time. However, you need to really give it a try to appreciate what it represents.

This manga started as a part of Weekly Shonen Jump, written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. It lasted for 17 years until it got the transfer to Ultra Jump, the monthly seinen which is made for young adults.

It remains active there to this day and it even inspired video games, live-action film, exhibition in collaboration with Gucci and anime adaptation.

The anime art is what we’ll be focusing on today. It’s undoubtedly an inspiration for countless memes and frequently referenced in other anime. It’s time to wrap our heads around the insanity that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures are.

One of the most impressive feats in this anime is that cast and locales are never static. It’s a journey of chivalry and misadventure throughout history, with only constant being the lineage of the Joestar family.

The first of two seasons begins when George Joestar and his family tumble off a precarious road, where his wife is killed while protecting their son. George was saved by Dario Brando who happened to be partaking in some grave robberies earlier. However, George felt forever in debt to the Brando family so he adopted his son after Dario died.

Dio however, was an evil incarnate who wanted to murder George and claim his wealth. Here comes the JoJo, Jonathan Joestar, who is a mountain of a man and always was in best intentions. He has a strict moral code and values family above everything else.

It’s important to give this show some time and you’ll get hooked. The unique story and rich characters with a lot of weirdness going on – what more can you ask for?
